My name is Sarah Maimone, and this is Sugarshine LLC. In February of 2025, I founded a coffee club on the simple notion that I have a passion for coffee and love sharing that passion with others. I started my first job in coffee back in 2013 and remained in the industry until 2020, but I continued my practice from home afterward. As the family barista, I had a reputation for making a great cup of coffee, and as soon as I got a machine, those closest to me knew they could always count on me when their usual stops weren’t doing it for them.
I’ve worked for the big-name coffee corporations,
as well as local coffee shops, but I always wondered if I could one day have my own place in the industry.
Can I handle it? Will people choose me over competitors? Do we really need another coffee business? How can I stand out from the rest when so many people are chasing the coffee shop dream? The answer is a resounding YES!
What started as a way to bring people together to enjoy a delicious espresso drink quickly became a place for others to meet new people, gather with friends, or experience a more intimate coffee shop setting. The support I’ve seen from just these small, invite-only gatherings has validated many of the worries I’ve had. People genuinely want to see this succeed and grow, and the moment someone asked to hire me for an event, I started researching what I needed to do to make it happen.
As a mother, one of the biggest
goals I have in life is to show my son
that going after your dreams is
possible. If it’s something you’re
passionate about, working hard to bring it to life will be worth everything you have to overcome in the end.
My son is a huge part of why I started on this journey, and why I’ve made it this far. His excitement, optimism, and support have kept this possible on the hardest days. I remember sitting at the dining room table one night, talking about how I was afraid of failing and having to give up on my dream, and he said ‘But Mom, it’s not going to fail if you don’t want it to!’ His encouragement is something I’ll cherish forever, no matter what happens.
At the end of the day, I’m just a girl chasing a dream, and I’m so glad you’re all here to hype me up! A big thank you to you, my family, my friends, and all my supporters who have helped me get this far.
